Dear Future Member:

 

Imagine what life was like years ago; no shopping malls, no cell phones, and no airplanes. Even no cars, if you go back far enough. Today, the pace of life is definitely faster. It seems we move around so rapidly that we hardly ever have a moment to appreciate the people around us or the city in which we live.

 

The Bowdon Area Historical Society was organized in 1985 by several prominent citizens whose vision was to encourage historical and preservation inquiry. The members believed it was important to remember when the pace of life was slower.

 

Today we are still dedicated to that vision.  We place a high value on preserving the past and sharing history with others.  In doing so we provide interesting educational programs for children and adults, historical lectures and exhibits about Bowdon area history. These exhibits draw from hundreds of items in the Historical Society's Meeting Place and Museum.

 

Come and enjoy our monthly meetings on the second Tuesday evening of each month at 6:30 PM. at "The Meeting Place".  Listen to some wonderful stories while enjoying a covered dish dinner. We are located on College View St. behind Bowdon High School. (see map)

 

We hope you will join us in our efforts to preserve and present for others, the memories of earlier times in Bowdon by becoming a member of the Historical Society. Your support will ensure that not only the stories of the past but also the news being made today will be made available in the future for our children and grandchildren to study and enjoy. Most importantly, we would like to have you as a member of the Historical Society, whatever your level of support.
