About Bowdon Area Historical Society
The Bowdon Area Historical Society is a non-profit organization that was founded in 1985 by a group of concerned Bowdon citizens interested in preserving the history of the town and the surrounding area.
Wayne Copeland, grandson of one of the founders of the town in 1853, served as the first president.
Meetings were held at the Bowdon Senior Citizen Building on the second Tuesday of each month, except August.
Today, this effort is continued with the help of 75+ members.
Monthly meetings are now held at "The Meeting Place" which is located behind the old High School gym on College View St.
The Meeting Place is an old brick building which was formerly the Methodist Protestant Church.
Regular meetings are still held on the 2nd Tuesday of each month beginning with a covered dish dinner and fellowship at 6:30 PM and ending with a program of historic significance.
